Resources for Flood Damage to Property

Published on February 10, 2023

The Rent Program has been receiving many inquiries from tenants whose homes have become uninhabitable following recent winter storms. We encourage any tenant who has been displaced from their rental unit through no fault of their own to reach out to the Rent Program at 510-747-7520 or rentprogram@alamedaca.gov

Temporary Relocation

The City's Rent Ordinance does contain a right to temporary relocation payments, but the rules are complicated and each case often has a unique set of circumstances. Please contact the Rent Program and staff will be happy to go over the regulations in detail with you.

We also recommend that displaced tenants also reach out to the City's Code Enforcement division at 510-747-6818 to start the process of verifying that the unit is uninhabitable.

Additional information on temporary relocation payments can be found on our FAQ page.
