New Annual General Adjustment announced, effective January 2021

Effective January 1, 2021, through August 31, 2021, 1% Annual General Adjustment for rental units subject to rent control
 
Pursuant to Alameda Municipal Code Section 6-58.60 (B), the Annual General Adjustment for September 2020 through August 2021 is 1% based on the percentage change in the Consumer Price Index for the 12-month period ending April 2020. However, the City Council has adopted an urgency ordinance imposing a freeze on rent increases for residential rent controlled units through December 31, 2020. Therefore, the 1% AGA will become effective on January 1, 2021.

Residential rent controlled units are units at multi-unit properties (two or more units on a legal lot of record) for which a certificate of occupancy was issued before February 1995.
