Annual General Adjustment announced, effective September 1, 2025
Published on May 20, 2025
Pursuant to Alameda Municipal Code Section 6-58.60(B), the Annual General Adjustment for September 1, 2025, through August 31, 2026, is 1.0%.
The Annual General Adjustment is a cap on the allowed amount of annual rent increase. It applies to all residential units at multi-unit properties (two or more units on a legal lot of record) built before February 1995. The cap is calculated based on 70% of the percentage change in the Consumer Price Index for the 12-month period ending April 2025.
Additionally, under California Civil Code § 1947.12 (AB 1482), rental properties not covered by local rent control may be subject to statewide rent caps of 5% + CPI. For the 12-month period beginning August 1, 2025 through July 31, 2026, the AB 1482 rent increase limit is 6.3%. For more information on the Tenant Protection Act visit here.
