FY 2023-24 Program Fees

Log in to Rent Registry to verify registration, apply for exemptions, and submit payment online beginning June 1st
Beginning Thursday June 1st, 2023, payments can be accepted for the 2023-2024 Rent Program annual fee. Property owners may pay the fee by logging in to their Rent Registry account to pay by credit card or e-check. Owners also will receive a mailed invoice indicating the total fees due, with instructions on how to pay by check.
The following fees are owed on all rental units in the City of Alameda:
- $162 for fully regulated units: This includes all multi-unit properties (two or more units on a legal lot or record) built before February 1995.
- $109 for partially regulated units: This includes single-family homes (and any permitted accessory dwelling units on the same lot), condominiums, and townhouses, as well as multi-unit properties built after February 1995.
- No fee is due for privately owned units in the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) program: The City Council has again agreed to cover these fees to encourage participation in the subsidization program.
The fee is owed on any residential unit that will be rented to a tenant at any time during the City’s fiscal year, from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024.
Landlords have until July 31, 2023, to verify registration information, apply for any new exemptions, and pay any fees owed. Beginning September 1, 2023, a 10% late penalty will be applied, with an additional 10% added each successive month until a maximum penalty of 60% has been reached.
Fee amounts are updated annually in accordance with Resolution 15771.
